Job Description
Department & how it relates to the role Network Rail is planning to transfer certain activities of our business to a new National Centre which will open in Milton Keynes during 2012. You should be aware that this position will be included in this move. About the role (External) The main aim of this role is to provide performance monitoring and reporting of freight and PWRA rail vehicles operating on Network Rail infrastructure, including freight and PWRA rail vehicle / infrastructure technical interface performance and imported risk issues. Key Accountabilities · Monitor and report on freight and PWRA rail vehicle performance, in accordance with the obligations placed on Network Rail as Infrastructure Manager for imported infrastructure risk management and rail vehicle reliability and interface performance. · Provide specialist advice and support to Network Rail groups on technical performance of freight and PWRA rail vehicles and their impact on Network Rail infrastructure. · Liaise with freight and PWRA stakeholders and Network Rail maintenance and operations teams to establish root cause details of interface incidents. · Provide support for rail vehicle / infrastructure technical interface performance through development and facilitation of interface working groups to monitor and report interface performance and support Network Rail maintenance and freight and PWRA stakeholders to develop interface performance initiatives. · Provide rail vehicle expertise to investigations carried out when monitoring or incidents indicate that freight and PWRA stakeholders might not be complying with the rail vehicle requirements of their safety management system. · Provide support to Network Rail maintenance and operations teams for incidents and investigations involving freight and PWRA rail vehicles. Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential · HND/HNC or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject · Knowledge of rail vehicle engineering, either electrical or mechanical · Competent in the use of spreadsheets and databases Desirable · Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject * Knowledge of Network Rail and industry rail vehicles
